See All Laws and PoliciesWhen AWI was established in 1951, only two federal laws to protect animals existed. Since then, we have worked diligently for the adoption and enforcement of laws and policies that will protect animals everywhere: in agriculture, in commerce, in our homes and communities, in research, and in the wild.
