Act Now to Prevent Inhumane Octopus Farms in New York
Thirty years of rigorous scientific research has shown octopuses to be highly intelligent and sentient beings. However, efforts to develop intensive commercial octopus farming overseas threaten to subject these animals to inhumane conditions and psychological suffering. To prevent this unsustainable and cruel practice from expanding into New York, State Senator Monica Martinez and State Assemblymember Tony Simone have introduced S.7421A and A.8043A. Please urge your state legislators to cosponsor this bill and send a clear signal to the rest of the world that octopus farming is ethically and environmentally unacceptable.
