Tell Fashion Designers to Ditch Cruel Exotic Animal Skins

Each year, luxury fashion companies Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Prada peddle items such as shoes, wallets, gloves, purses, and belts made from the skins of crocodiles, alligators, lizards, snakes, ostriches, and other wild animals. These animals are often raised in cramped, unnatural environments that incubate disease. They are denied basic comforts, including clean drinking water, veterinary care, and space to express their natural behaviors, before they are brutally killed. Alligators, for instance, are typically electroshocked, are stabbed in the back of the neck, or have a metal rod jammed into and down their spinal canal. To make snakes easier to skin, workers inflate these live and unstunned reptiles with air or water using a compressor. Please write to these companies, urging them to stop using exotic skins in their products and instead rely on humane, sustainable alternatives that are not made from animals.
