Take Action to Protect Children and Animals from Abuse!
The bipartisan Child and Animal Abuse Detection and Reporting Act (H.R. 712) would address the link between child and animal abuse by allowing states to include animal abuse among the stressors measured in reports for the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System. These reports help researchers and service providers better understand the factors associated with child abuse—but they currently don’t account for this known link. If enacted, this bill will encourage greater cooperation among humane law enforcement and social service agencies, benefiting both animals and children. Please urge your US representative to cosponsor this bill today.
